Prior to founding Beyond Marketing, Girand held positions in product marketing and software management for SuperMac Techology, a video graphics peripherals vendor. Ultimately, she redefined SuperMac's software business, repositioned it and launched it as a separate company. Her responsibilities included both marketing and development, and under her management, the company shipped new versions of its key product and pursued multimillion dollar product acquisitions.
From 1987 through 1989, Girand worked for Apple Computer in Evangelism, Product Management and Product Marketing. She was the Senior Product Manager on the launch of System 7.0. She also productized and shipped a key system software component called "32-Bit QuickDraw," founding the photographic quality color industry on the Macintosh.
Girand holds a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University, (1983), and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business , (1987). Between Princeton and Stanford, she was a programmer. Speaking engagements she has held include:
