Exercising in Eindhoven
Unless you are Dutch by ancestry, you may find that the weather in Eindhoven
makes it challenging to exercise during the winter. Many expats,
and especially the racket sport people, belong to the Canons Club in
Eindhoven off the A2 in Veldhoven. Most of the roads on the map
that used to lead to this club are now closed, so the easiest way to
get there is off the Strijp/Veldhoven exit (McDonald’s exit; afrit
31) off the A2. This can be a challenge for people living
south or west of Karel de Grootlaan, so a number of the nonracket sport
women now belong to Fitness First, behind the gas station at the intersection
of the Ring and the Eindhovenseweg.
Please refer to the comment about the ANWB with regards to getting a
bicycle path map in the section “Exploring
Eindhoven.”
If you are accustomed to a higher level of sports, such as cycling,
there are many clubs; you can probably most easily identify these through
work colleagues. There are several golf Clubs in the Eindhoven
area. Golf Pro Bob Potton would be a good contact to help introduce
you to the system, which requires that you obtain some type of license
before you begin playing: 040-256-2218.
